Blurb:
There’s a lot in life that comes hella easy for me. Turning heads with my stellar looks, strutting like a peacock with my smooth moves and adorable charm. Heck, need ideas for party shots or fresh recipes to make your friends jealous? I’m your guy.

It’s not even a front—my epic modesty—but that doesn’t mean I’m not a lying liar who lies.

What is definitely not easy is holding so much of myself back from my friends.

Or from myself.

It’s a truth that sucks.

But I can’t do that anymore, and it’s absolutely 100 percent my best friend’s fault.

Since our first college basketball practice, Bentley’s been by my side. He’s sweet, understanding, supersmart, and absolutely smoking hot. What’s more, he’s too good for me.

What I should do is keep our friendship platonic, but apparently patience isn’t my strong suit. Go figure.

Cue me starting something with him that I find impossible to stop, walk away from, or admit aloud.

But loving him… heck if that doesn’t become the easiest thing I’ve ever done. I just need to find a way to be worthy of his love and for him to stay patient as I pull my head out of my ass and give him the world he deserves.

Review

I loved Sammy and Bentley’s story, and catching up with the rest of their team, and friends. I’m going to miss this series. I loved the undercurrent of Sammy’s fear of his past catching up with both of them, and the twist in what actually happens to bring everything out into the open.

I liked how Sammy’s fears drive a lot of the story, and how it’s something he can’t easily get past. His and Bentley’s love for each other shines through, as does their frustration of hiding their relationship, and pretending to be best friends after becoming much more than that.

I love both their families, Sammy’s bio dad definitely excluded of course, and how supportive they, and their housemates are. The banter, and their scenes together are a highlight of the story. Their mothers rock!

I didn’t see the events of the final game and aftermath coming! Fabulous plot twist, with consequences. Love it, and the phone call Bentley intercepts.

The epilogue and glimpse into their future is a sweet coda to their much deserved HEA.

5 out of 5 stars.

About Anne Barwell

Anne Barwell lives in Wellington, New Zealand. She shares her home with a cat with “tortitude” who is convinced that the house is run to suit her; this is an ongoing “discussion,” and to date, it appears as though Kaylee may be winning. In 2008, Anne completed her conjoint BA in English Literature and Music/Bachelor of Teaching. She has worked as a music teacher, a primary school teacher, and now works in a library. She is a member of the Upper Hutt Science Fiction Club and plays violin for Hutt Valley Orchestra. She is an avid reader across a wide range of genres and a watcher of far too many TV series and movies, although it can be argued that there is no such thing as “too many.” These, of course, are best enjoyed with a decent cup of tea and further the continuing argument that the concept of “spare time” is really just a myth. She also hosts and reviews for other authors, and writes monthly blog posts for Love Bytes. She is the co-founder of the New Zealand Rainbow Romance writers, and a member of RWNZ. Anne’s books have received honorable mentions five times, reached the finals four times—one of which was for best gay book—and been a runner up in the Rainbow Awards. She has also been nominated twice in the Goodreads M/M Romance Reader’s Choice Awards—once for Best Fantasy and once for Best Historical. Anne can be found at https://annebarwell.wordpress.com
