This week’s snippet is from The Harp and the Sea which I co-wrote with Lou Sylvre.
The nights were the worst, when the loneliness tried to reach for him, to swallow him whole. The dreams that came with his feelings of isolation weren’t only because of his current situation. Those had started after Angus. They hadn’t spent any nights together, for Angus was too scared of their relationship being discovered to risk it, but they’d both drifted off for a bit after lovemaking. Ian had woken in Angus’s arms, half sleepy, his head on Angus’s chest, listening to the steady thump of his heart, and feeling his lover’s breath caressing his hair.
Those were the dreams that plagued him now when he slept.
