This week’s snippet is from Winter Duet. Almost finished my read through so aiming to format next weekend, as it’s not something I’m going to do on a weekday with limited time before work, and getting home after 7pm.
“The Gestapo are on their way. We’ve been compromised.” Matt shoved the note into his pocket. It wouldn’t do to leave it behind as evidence they’d been warned.
“I can’t rouse Leo,” Kristopher told him. He shook Leo again, and this time Leo opened his eyes, although he didn’t seem very alert. He muttered something under his breath, but was obviously disorientated. They didn’t have time to wait until the morphine wore off.
“We’ll carry him between us.” Matt holstered his gun and ran over to the couch. “The front door is too obvious. We’ll go out the back and hope there’s no one there.”
“We won’t get far with him like this.” Kristopher didn’t think he could carry Leo on his own. If the way ahead wasn’t clear how would they get out?
“It’s better than staying here. I don’t know about you, but I’d prefer to take my chances out there.”
