A big welcome to V.L. Locey as part of her release blitz with Signal Boost Promotions for Love According to Liam.
Review
I loved this latest addition to this series, and I’m very happy that there’s more to come.
Mike and Bryn’s relationship feels very real. They’re in love and it shows, not just through words but actions too. I like how they’re honest with each other, and although they support each other, they’ll call out behaviour that isn’t so great either. That they do make mistakes is one of the things I love about them as it makes them very human. They’re both from very different walks of life and that takes some adjusting, even after being together a while.
This story is very much about family. Mike and Bryn are thinking about starting one. Mike has to work through his problems with his family, which is very much a work in progress learning curve for all of them, Kelly and Adam are getting married, and Bryn’s parents rock. I’m looking forward to meeting them in the next story.
And then there’s Liam.
I love his childlike lack of filters and the questions he asks that make the adults rethink some of their actions. He’s also the bond between past and present in this story which I thought worked well. I like that although he’s quite precocious at times, his mother and uncles don’t let him get away with bad behaviour. I think Bryn, despite his lack of experience with children, is going to make a great dad.
As an aside I loved Jamie, Mike’s work colleague. I hope he finds someone and his own HEA.
5 out of 5.
Sometimes it takes a child to remind us that love and family are rarely perfect but an accepting heart can smooth out the imperfections.
Mike Kneller-Mettler’s life has certainly been on the fast track upward since he met his husband, Bryn. Now married for nearly a year to the starting goalie for the Pittsburgh Ravens, Mike’s found himself propelled into a new home, a new career, and a new role as loving spouse. As his baby sister’s wedding approaches, Mike is going to be faced with a couple of monumental decisions that will affect not only his future, but the everyone he holds close to his heart.
Bryn Mettler and his team haven’t had the best ending to their season. Nursing a recurring groin injury, Bryn isn’t quite sure he’s ready for wedding chaos. But, the nuptials are going to go off whether he’s able to dance with the bride or not. Amid the usual insanity that every wedding brings, unexpected guests show up to throw the beautifully planned affair into turmoil. As the adults slip into childish behavior, it might be up to Liam to be the voice of reason.
