House Hunt & Swings & Roundabouts by Jackie Keswick

A big welcome to Jackie Keswick as part of her re-release of House Hunt and Swings & Roundabouts.

Hello, I’m Jackie Keswick, and Anne has kindly invited me back to talk about the next two books in my Power of Zero re-release mini-marathon. There’s one thing I’ve learned in the last few months, and that is that rapid releases are not my cup of tea! When coupled with a job and building works, there simply aren’t enough hours in the day!

But… we’ve made it, and the fourth book, Swings & Roundabouts, landed in KU today.

For me, House Hunt and Swings & Roundabouts – books 3 and 4 respectively – are quite different from the first two, Job Hunt and Ghosts. Jack has decided to make his own family, and to make a go of his relationship with Gareth. And – being Jack – he’s all in.

Things don’t go smoothly, of course, but what ties House Hunt and Swings & Roundabouts together is the fact that the trouble starts with Jack trying to do something nice for Gareth.

In House Hunt, he takes Gareth to enjoy the best oysters in England.

In Swings & Roundabouts, he tries to help Gareth destress by organising a romantic weekend away in Northern Sweden for the two of them.

In both instances, with seriously unexpected consequences.

If you’ve ever planned something special for your significant other, only to have things go wrong when you least expect them, then you’ll feel for Jack. It’s very much not fun when your good intentions blow up in your face…. Add a couple of domestic complications and two teenage boys with their own struggles and problems, and the next two instalments in Jack’s journey will be anything but smooth.

Jack isn’t a quitter, though. He knows exactly what he wants, and that’s his HEA with Gareth and his home-made family. And by the end of Swings & Roundabouts, Jack, Gareth, Nico, and Daniel are well on the way to realising that dream.

The Power of Zero books are available from amazon and through Kindle Unlimited.

Drugs. Bullies. Kidnappers. And Jack’s second chance at happiness is under threat.

Jack wants to enjoy his new life, but he can’t catch a break.

A perfect day out turns into three months undercover. A bully threatens Nico and Daniel. And returning a favour leads him into a trap.

Jack has never refused his help, but he never had anything that mattered to him, either. Now he must change his priorities, or the family he’s making for himself and his growing relationship with Gareth will fall to the demands made on him.

Jack Horwood. Vigilante, hacker, security specialist. Partner to Gareth Flynn. Adoptive father to their two teenage boys. Happily juggling long days and short nights.

Gareth Flynn. Ex-army officer. Ace negotiator. Righter of wrongs. Away from home more often than he likes.

When Jack treats Gareth to a romantic getaway, Sweden’s frigid peace gives them the break they both need. But Jack’s a trouble magnet and the next dead body is just a wild skidoo ride away.

Can love, teamwork, and trust survive the troubles that follow them around? Can Jack save what’s become so important to him?

Expect action, drama, and hot romance in book 4 of the Power of Zero series.

About Anne Barwell

Anne Barwell lives in Wellington, New Zealand. She shares her home with a cat with “tortitude” who is convinced that the house is run to suit her; this is an ongoing “discussion,” and to date, it appears as though Kaylee may be winning. In 2008, Anne completed her conjoint BA in English Literature and Music/Bachelor of Teaching. She has worked as a music teacher, a primary school teacher, and now works in a library. She is a member of the Upper Hutt Science Fiction Club and plays violin for Hutt Valley Orchestra. She is an avid reader across a wide range of genres and a watcher of far too many TV series and movies, although it can be argued that there is no such thing as “too many.” These, of course, are best enjoyed with a decent cup of tea and further the continuing argument that the concept of “spare time” is really just a myth. She also hosts and reviews for other authors, and writes monthly blog posts for Love Bytes. She is the co-founder of the New Zealand Rainbow Romance writers, and a member of RWNZ. Anne’s books have received honorable mentions five times, reached the finals four times—one of which was for best gay book—and been a runner up in the Rainbow Awards. She has also been nominated twice in the Goodreads M/M Romance Reader’s Choice Awards—once for Best Fantasy and once for Best Historical. Anne can be found at
