Welcome N.B. Dixon – Heir of Locksley

A big welcome to N.B. Dixon as part of her blog tour with LoveBound Promotions for Heir of Locksley from Beaten Track Publishing.

Character Interview with Lucy the Miller’s Daughter

Author N.B. Dixon interviews Lucy, a peasant girl living in the village owned by Lord Locksley and a close friend to Robin Hood.

N.B.: How long have you known Robin of Locksley?

Lucy: I’ve known of him all my life. He is the only son of Lord Locksley, who owns the Manor my family help to support, but I only met him recently when he came to my defence.

N.B.: He came to your defence?

Lucy: He did. I was being attacked by Sir Guy of Gisborne and his friends. Robin and his servant saw them off, and Robin was hurt in the struggle.

N.B.: That seems unusual behaviour for a noble.

Lucy: Robin isn’t your average nobleman’s son. He cares for his tenants. He deliberately turned a blind eye to my father’s poaching in Sherwood Forest. If that is ever discovered, it will bring the law down on his own head.

N.B.: He must have learned by example.

Lucy: Oh no, his father isn’t like that at all. He’s only interested in taxing us to death and seducing every village maiden he can. He disapproves of Robin’s behaviour.

N.B.: What of the rumour that Robin of Locksley sometimes dresses as a peasant, and is known by the name Robin Hood?

Lucy: It is true he often mixes with the villagers. It was they who gave him the nickname. He once told me that he would prefer to live the life of an honest working man rather than that of a nobleman.

N.B.: Surely if he continues to openly defy his father, there will be trouble.

Lucy: I fear it. I believe Robin would break with his father if he was pushed, but if he does, the people of Locksley will be beside him. He is our hope for the future.

About the Book

Robin of Locksley is a rebel, more comfortable roaming Sherwood Forest with his longbow and courting the village girls than learning how to run a manor.

An innocent flirtation with a peasant girl soon lands Robin in trouble, and worse, he finds himself inexplicably attracted to Will Scathelock, his best friend since childhood. Robin must decide whether to follow the rules of society or his own conscience.

Meanwhile, his neighbour, Guy of Gisborne, is anxious to get his hands on the Locksley estate and he will do anything to make it happen – even murder.

About Anne Barwell

Anne Barwell lives in Wellington, New Zealand. She shares her home with a cat with “tortitude” who is convinced that the house is run to suit her; this is an ongoing “discussion,” and to date, it appears as though Kaylee may be winning. In 2008, Anne completed her conjoint BA in English Literature and Music/Bachelor of Teaching. She has worked as a music teacher, a primary school teacher, and now works in a library. She is a member of the Upper Hutt Science Fiction Club and plays violin for Hutt Valley Orchestra. She is an avid reader across a wide range of genres and a watcher of far too many TV series and movies, although it can be argued that there is no such thing as “too many.” These, of course, are best enjoyed with a decent cup of tea and further the continuing argument that the concept of “spare time” is really just a myth. She also hosts and reviews for other authors, and writes monthly blog posts for Love Bytes. She is the co-founder of the New Zealand Rainbow Romance writers, and a member of RWNZ. Anne’s books have received honorable mentions five times, reached the finals four times—one of which was for best gay book—and been a runner up in the Rainbow Awards. She has also been nominated twice in the Goodreads M/M Romance Reader’s Choice Awards—once for Best Fantasy and once for Best Historical. Anne can be found at https://annebarwell.wordpress.com
